CARIS recently held an open HIPS and SIPS training course in Perth, Australia. The course was held at Training Choice and was coordinated and delivered by Daniel Kruimel and Christian Fellinger of CARIS Asia Pacific.

The course attracted attendees from defence, government organizations, research institutions and private survey companies. Topics covered included an overview of the CUBE processing workflow, water column imaging, side-scan processing, backscatter processing using GeoCoder and calibration of a multibeam echo sounder. At the end of the course, trainees were able to bring in their own datasets to process in HIPS and SIPS, with the assistance of the CARIS trainers. Also included in the last day was an insight into leveraging the CUBE algorithm to optimize bathymetric processing for interferometric systems.

The course attracted a record number of participants for an open training course in the Asia Pacific region. In addition to the training, participants were also able to engage in a number of networking opportunities during breaks and at social events hosted by CARIS Asia Pacific.
