The LOTS Limits and Boundaries Module offers the world-renowned CARIS LOTS tools within a CARIS application. This functionality is enabled via an optional license setup in BASE Editor. It supports law of the sea related work such as the maintenance of the territorial sea baseline model and the geodetic calculation of maritime limits and boundaries within a desktop environment. These tools benefit from and are complemented by the latest CARIS technology available in BASE Editor. Because it is part of a seamless application, this add-in removes file-based data duplications and facilitates the maintenance of law of the sea data.
Here are the some notable feature in LOTS Limits and Boundaries
Transfer your law of the sea data from the original CARIS LOTS application or other sources into a modern CARIS workflow by mapping features to a new law of the sea data model. This default feature catalogue is an extension of the IHO S-57 v3.1 standard. This provides a platform for porting your law of the sea data to the emerging S-121 format, which is part of the S-100 group of standards. Maintenance of law of the sea features becomes easier and can coexist with hydrographic data and products.
Territorial Sea Baseline Management
Customized tools to allow for complete creation/management and updates of your coastal state's Territorial Sea Baseline Model. Among other functionalities, tools include a Wagon Wheel filter, an Interactive Baseline digitizing tool, a bay closing reporting tool, Median and Bisector creation tool, Envelopes of Arc generation tool and a densification tool.
Manage and produce your Territorial Sea/Contiguous Zone/Exclusive Economic Zone within a modern GIS environment.
Specialized tools to allow for complete creation, update and output of all of your coastal state's maritime boundaries. Use proven LOTS derived geodetic tools like the Envelope of Arcs applied to the Territorial Sea Baseline model.
A wide variety of vector, point cloud and raster formats, including web services are supported using the new platform. In addition, users have access to a rich set of data creation and editing tools. The powerful 3-D visualization engine allows boundaries and baselines to be integrated with 3-D terrain models for further analysis. Paper reports, digital extracts and exports can be quickly performed providing interoperability with other systems and easy product creation to meet deliverables.
Create, analyze and produce solutions for any disputes and/or unresolved maritime boundaries using robust geodetic tools evolved from CARIS LOTS. Create and analyze theoretical cases using geodetic tools such as the equidistance line or the equiratio method.
Many specialized custom applications are possible. Explore many theoretical scenarios to obtain the most advantageous results. This will allow for strategic boundary negotiations with any neighbouring and/or opposing coastal states where the desired outcome is a negotiated treatied boundary settlement or a presentation of a strong maritime boundary case to international tribunals.
