CARIS awarded contract with Le Havre in France

After taking part in a competitive tender process, CARIS is pleased to announce that Le Havre in France has chosen to implement CARIS Bathy DataBASE and Spatial Fusion Enterprise for the management and distribution of their bathymetric data.

Le Havre is France’s second largest port for external trade, after Marseille, and is the largest port for container traffic. The harbour of Le Havre, or Grand Port Maritime du Havre, is located in the north-west region of France at the mouth of the Seine River and is the port that serves Paris. Le Havre is France’s second largest port for external trade, after Marseille, and is the largest port for container traffic.

The port's hydrographic department has a large number of existing surveys and conducts roughly 400 new surveys a year. Bathy DataBASE will be used to better manage all of the bathymetric datasets generated by the surveys. With the inclusion of Engineering Analysis Module, the latest survey information can be combined with a reference model of the harbour to easily compute volumes for dredging.

The use of Spatial Fusion will enable the hydrographic department to disseminate all their geospatial data digitally. Using OGC web service standards other harbour departments, as well as external organizations, will be able to view and download data using a web browser.

In the coming months the solution will be implemented at Le Havre and CARIS looks forward to a successful collaboration.
