About the Author
Craig Lessels is a lead Hydrographer with the CHS, Pacific Region, based in Sidney, BC. The Pacific Region of CHS is responsible for surveying and charting the navigable waters on the West Coast of Canada.
About the Image
The bathymetric and topographic survey of Lions Gate Bridge, First Narrows, Vancouver Harbour was completed by the Canadian Hydrographic Service (C. Lessels, S. Paquet), Pacific Region, in May of 2017. The bathymetry was collected using an R2Sonic 2022 multibeam echosounder and the topography was collected using an Optech ILRIS laser scanner. The collection systems were mounted on the Canadian Survey Launch (CSL) Shoal Seeker and positioned in real-time using an Applanix POSMV. The data was processed using HIPS and SIPS.
