CARIS has just completed a South American workshop on the use of Bathy DataBASE at the offices of the Servicio Hidrográfico y Oceanográfico de la Armada (SHOA), in Valparaiso, Chile. The workshop was coordinated and delivered by CARIS employees Eduardo Infante and Alejandro Geronés.

Several hydrographers and cartographers from the Hydrographic Services of Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Uruguay and of course Chile participated in this event. Topics included the management of bathymetric survey data and the creation of bathymetric products for use in ENC and paper chart production.

The event also presented an excellent opportunity to discuss and compare notes on the current CARIS workflows used by the different Hydrographic Offices in the region.
